Continuing Care Funding

Writer: The YSIThe YSI

Conference welcomes the determination of the First Minister to improve the care system in Scotland so that Scotland is the best place in the world to grow up.

Conference however notes with concern the current funding and provision gap which exists in the provision of continuing care for care experienced young people across Scotland.

Conference calls for continuing care funding to be placed on a statutory footing to ensure all qualifying young people have access to support.

Conference urges the Scottish Government to consider the case for protecting local authority funding for continuing care from budget cuts as part of the funding settlement between central government and local authorities.
